DIY Guide: How to Adjust and Replace Elastic Bracelet Cord
Elastic cord bracelets are popular for their stylish simplicity, versatility in styling, and flexible sizing. However, over time, you may notice some wear and tear on the elastic cord, or find that the size no longer fits and requires adjustment or re-stringing.
If these common bracelet issues are bothering you, don't worry!
We have provided an easy-to-follow video tutorial that will guide you through the process of adjusting and repairing your elastic cord bracelets, ensuring you can easily handle these unexpected bracelet mishaps!
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Prepare your elastic cord, a short piece of thin steel wire (or a thin paperclip), scissors, and your beads.
- Take about 70cm of elastic cord (approx. 0.6mm thick) and fold it in half to create two strands.
- Thread the steel wire through the folded loop of the elastic cord to create a small guiding tool. This will make stringing the beads much easier.
- Use the steel wire to guide the elastic cord through the first bead, then push the bead to just past the midpoint of the cord.
- Repeat this step to thread all the beads onto the elastic cord in sequence.
- Once all beads are threaded, remove the steel wire, take one strand, pass it through the folded loop, and pull it slightly taut.
- Adjust the beads to close the gap, then tie a secure knot.
- To ensure the knot does not come undone, flip the bracelet over after tying the first knot and tie another; repeat this process 5-6 times.
- Use scissors to carefully trim the excess elastic cord, being careful not to cut it too short; leave some length to prevent the knot from loosening.
- Grip the bead next to the knot and pull the knotted section into the bead hole to hide it.
- You're finished!
