【Tips】How to Care for AWNL Jewelry
Jewelry is a fashionable accessory—a dazzling touch to an outfit—as well as an investment, serving as an heirloom passed down through generations. For some, jewelry even holds special emotional significance. Therefore, taking meticulous care of your jewelry is essential to ensure it remains radiant for years to come. Whether it is silver rings, necklaces, or meteorite bracelets inlaid with precious gemstones, we recommend following our jewelry care guide to maintain your pieces and keep them looking brand new.
Basic Care
Storage
To keep your jewelry in excellent condition and minimize unnecessary scratches, we recommend storing each piece separately in an airtight bag, jewelry pouch, or jewelry box. Keep your jewelry away from direct sunlight, humidity, or excessive heat.
Wearing
We recommend removing your jewelry when sleeping, cooking, cleaning, swimming, or bathing. It is especially important to remove jewelry before exercising or engaging in fitness activities to avoid contact with sweat, which can corrode gemstones and silver surfaces. When applying cosmetics, lotions, skincare oils, or perfumes, it is best to wait until your skin has fully absorbed the products and is dry before putting on your jewelry. Please avoid exposing your jewelry to rainwater, chlorinated water, and other chemicals. Meteorites, pearls, and opals are particularly susceptible to damage and corrosion from acids and sweat.
For basic daily cleaning and care, simply wipe gently with a silver polishing cloth!
Cleaning Meteorite Jewelry
AWNL uses Muonionalusta iron meteorite, which is susceptible to rust. While it is impossible to prevent meteorite from rusting permanently, you can maintain it by following the instructions below.
**Important**: If your jewelry contains other materials, including gemstones and sterling silver, you must cover those parts with non-residue waterproof tape or electrical tape before cleaning the meteorite.
Items you may need:
- Silver polishing cloth, paper towel, or soft cloth
- 95% anhydrous alcohol
- Cotton swabs (if the item contains other gemstones or silver)
Step 1: Applying Alcohol
Since most AWNL meteorite jewelry consists of materials other than pure meteorite, we recommend using a cotton swab to apply alcohol to the meteorite portion and wiping it gently.
Step 2: Wipe gently with a silver polishing cloth, paper towel, or soft cloth, then air dry for at least 20 minutes.
Repeat the above steps if necessary.
Cleaning Gemstone Jewelry
With long-term wear, gemstones such as Nuummite tumble stones or Tiger's Eye may develop white spots where they touch the skin or from scratches during use. You can easily remove these white marks by gently rubbing the gemstone with your fingers, "oiling" it with the natural oils from your skin. You can also clean them gently with warm water and a small amount of mild detergent, or wipe them with the provided silver polishing cloth to restore their luster.
If using a professional jewelry cleaner, be sure to rinse thoroughly to remove any residue. As with most gemstones, the use of ultrasonic cleaners or steam cleaners is not recommended.
Charging and Purification
Crystals are gemstones with spiritual properties. Most newly acquired crystals contain chaotic energy memories from processes such as mining, transportation, cutting, grinding, and polishing. The purpose of purifying crystals is to eliminate these residual energy memories so the crystal can be attuned to its rightful owner. This allows the crystal to resonate with the owner's magnetic field and combine with natural and cosmic energy to form a more powerful field.
Additionally, crystals absorb surrounding energy, so they require periodic purification and recharging. Especially after being worn for a period of time, they accumulate various negative energies. Purifying and recharging them keeps the crystals in their optimal state and ensures continuous neutralization of negative energy.

Cleaning Sterling Silver Jewelry
Using the provided silver polishing cloth is the simplest way to clean silver jewelry. The cloth itself is soft and infused with anti-tarnish agents. If you do not have a silver polishing cloth on hand, you can also use dish soap, toothpaste, or baking soda for cleaning.
- Add a few drops of dish soap to a bowl of warm water and soak the silver jewelry for ten minutes.
- Gently scrub the silver jewelry with a soft toothbrush.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean warm water.
- Pat dry with a cotton cloth.
Alternatively, you can use baking soda and salt for cleaning:
- Place a sheet of aluminum foil in a large bowl or basin, then mix baking soda and salt together.
- Pour in hot water; once the mixture is dissolved, add the silver jewelry and stir gently, wrapping it in the aluminum foil.
- Soak for about 10 minutes, then remove and rinse with warm water.
- Pat dry with a cotton cloth.
