TRACE & NARRATIVE / 痕跡與敘事
A variety of opal from the highlands of Peru's Andes. Unlike typical opal, it shows no play of colour—an opaque, pale pink covers the entire surface.
The pink comes from palygorskite, a silicate mineral, incorporated as volcanic silica filled voids in sedimentary rock. Opal without play of colour is classified as "common opal," but in this case, the absence of spectral play is replaced by the quietness of the colour itself.
Also Peru's national stone. In the dry Andean air, this pink seems to carry further than it should.
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES / 物理特性
- Contains water in its structure — avoid heat and very dry conditions
- Do not wear into saunas or prolonged direct sun
- Softer than precious opal — handle gently
SYMBOLIC INDEX / 象徵體系
Heart | Anahata
Libra, Gemini, Aquarius
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROJECTION / 心理投射
Tenderness — Comfort — Softness
Doesn't heal — holds. Provides the felt safety that healing requires as a precondition. During fragile periods, having it close takes the edge off. The gentlest form of structural support.
SELECTOR'S NOTE / 選品手記
Healing a wound and wrapping a wound are different stages. This stone belongs to the second. The quiet assembly of safety before repair begins. During a fragile interval, it makes things slightly easier. That “slightly” is precisely the point. It doesn't overreach.
