TRACE & NARRATIVE / 痕跡與敘事
A red agate from the mountain regions of Sichuan and Yunnan, China. "Nanhong" means "red of the south," and the stone has been used in China for thousands of years.
The red comes from finely dispersed iron oxide particles throughout the agate. Unlike ordinary red agate, the colour in nanhong is distributed evenly through the entire stone. Hold it to light, and it glows as though seen through red mist.
During the Qing dynasty, court officials used nanhong beads to denote rank. Long prized, but the supply of quality rough diminishes year by year. A red that belongs to a specific geography.

PSYCHOLOGICAL PROJECTION / 心理投射
Warmth — Nourishment — Steadiness
Heats from the interior. A mild, unmistakable activation — like a half-degree rise in core temperature. In Chinese material tradition, it has long been associated with improved circulation. Reserves rebuild slowly and surely.
SELECTOR'S NOTE / 選品手記
Cold causes stalling — in the body, in the thinking. This stone warms from the bottom, gradually, without spectacle. Nothing like excitement. More like confirming the pilot light is still on. You know better than anyone when that heat is needed.
